Collection 25 – Strontium Dog: Outlaw

Yer a dead dog Alpha! It’s the twenty-fifth in our series of Space Spinner 2000 collections! These collections have all of our coverage for a specific character or storyline, all in one place. They’re a great accompaniment to reading collected versions of 2000AD, or to just hear your favorite thrill all in one place.

Outlaw is the first real contemporary, full powered Strontium Dog epic. While Journey to hell features a Johnny, Wulf, and Gronk out of their element and without many time weapons, and Portrait of a mutant is about young Johnny, this is our hero at the height of his powers. It also brings in characters from both those previous epics and from smaller stories we’ve seen along the way, like Middenface McNulty and the Stix brothers, to say nothing of the ultimate evil, which I’ll not spoil at this point. It’s time to get the band back together and fight once more for mutant kind! Keep an eye out for my favorite, the Torso from Newcastle, as we head out with Strontium Dog: Outlaw!

Collection 24 – Rogue Trooper Volume 1 Part 3

Let’s Knife! It’s the twenty-fourth in our series of Space Spinner 2000 collections! These collections have all of our coverage for a specific character or storyline, all in one place. They’re a great accompaniment to reading collected versions of 2000AD, or to just hear your favorite thrill all in one place.

Freshen up your stereotypes, because we’re headed for Fort Nuero! It’s probably my favorite Rogue Trooper story, and finds the Genetic Infantrymen making his way through an isolated fortress on the edge of Nu-Earth where all of the inhabitants have gone completely mad! It’s jokes I only sort of get and cool rover droids against an army of crafty Norts, and oh man it’s a lot of fun. After that we’ll meet a high ranking figure from Rogue’s past, and join professor of dark shocks Alan Moore for meditations on the nature of conflict. It should be a great time!

Collection 23 – The Ballad of Halo Jones

Nice necklace! It’s the twenty-third in our series of Space Spinner 2000 collections! These collections have all of our coverage for a specific character or storyline, all in one place. They’re a great accompaniment to reading collected versions of 2000AD, or to just hear your favorite thrill all in one place.

It’s a big one for this post-Christmas collection, as we head out to do everything with Halo Jones! I’m a little trepidatious, but it should be a good time! The third of Alan Moore’s tales of space teenagers, Halo Jones is considered one, if not the best stories to have come out of 2000AD, and often British comics generally. It’s the story of a young woman making her way through a complex and fully realized future society. She leaves home, knows both love and betrayal, fights in wars, and makes hard decisions. It’s got soaring heights and shattering lows. Halo Jones is an amazing story that shows what 2000AD can be, a way to tell a story in short parts that draw you in and make you hungry for more. Collection 22 – Rogue Trooper Volume 1 Part 2

Nain! It’s the twenty-second in our series of Space Spinner 2000 collections! These collections have all of our coverage for a specific character or storyline, all in one place. They’re a great accompaniment to reading collected versions of 2000AD, or to just hear your favorite thrill all in one place.

Start digging some holes, because Rogue Trooper is on the warpath! This section sees Rogue moving away from the short, single or double prog stories of the early days to longer and more far-reaching tales. We’re also seeing the creative team solidify a bit, generally stories are bing tag teamed by Cam Kennedy and Colin Wilson, with Brett Ewins dodging in every now and then. This also where the pursuit of the Traitor General becomes Rogue’s paramount goal, when he isn’t distracted by a side-quest or temporary threat. We’ll also meet the first of a long-running Rogue Trooper trope, the treacherous femme fatale! Find this thrill at the 2000AD webstore, or wherever books are sold.

Collection 21 – D.R. & Quinch

Mind the oranges! It’s the twenty-first in our series of Space Spinner 2000 collections! These collections have all of our coverage for a specific character or storyline, all in one place. They’re a great accompaniment to reading collected versions of 2000AD, or to just hear your favorite thrill all in one place.

The middle child in Alan Moore’s 2000AD tales of space teenagers DR & Quich began their lives as one-off characters in a silly future shock that gave way to a recurring series. He’d done this previously with Abelard Snazz, the genius with the double-decker head. But while those stories had usually been single issue adventures with DR & Quinch Moore and Davis were able to spread out and tell extensive tales, usually while playing with tropes of established stories. Whether it’s dating, going to war, or getting a movie made, DR & Quinch bring an anarchic style and dash of ultra violence to everything they do! Grab your buddies, alive or dead, and let’s head out on the trail of the Traitor General with Rogue Trooper! They’re a great accompaniment to reading collected versions of 2000AD, or to just hear your favorite thrill all in one place.

We’re jumping way ahead for this one, to those golden days of 1983 for some high class thrill power! Skizz is Moore’s first long running story in 2000AD, though of course he was already publishing major work in Warrior at the same time. Skizz is the story of an alien being befriended by a young person and their friends, but things get difficult when the government intervenes. In the end though the alien is reunited with their people and everyone learns a lesson about themselves. Sound familiar? You might be surprised! We’re once again headed back to these halcyon days of late 1980 and 1981 for classic thrill power! Meltdown Man is an epic fantasy written by Alan Hebden with art by Massimo Belardinelli. It charts the adventures of dimension hopping SAS Agent Nick Stone and a whole cast of animal-human hybrids called Yujees! It’s a massive tale, spanning 50 progs, with numerous thrills, chills, and epic violence, plus a Tiger Commander! It’s a ton of fun, and something you won’t find anywhere else! Collection 17 – Nemesis the Warlock Part 2

Credo! It’s the seventeenth in our series of Space Spinner 2000 collections! These collections have all of our coverage for a specific character or storyline, all in one place. They’re a great accompaniment to reading collected versions of 2000AD, or to just hear your favorite thrill all in one place.

It’s been way too long since our last collections episode, especially since the most recent one ended on a cliffhanger with the first half of Nemesis book one complete and another half to finish! So here we are again, fighting humans and bringing peace to the galaxy, or something. After the first half’s rip-roaring introduction and expansion of the world of Nemesis and Torquemada we’re now starting to see full fledged stories and intrigue break out between our protagonist and antagonist, as well as the introduction of themes and characters that will influence the story going forward.

Collection 16 – Nemesis the Warlock

Credo! It’s the sixteenth in our series of Space Spinner 2000 collections! These collections have all of our coverage for a specific character or storyline, all in one place. They’re a great accompaniment to reading collected versions of 2000AD, or to just hear your favorite thrill all in one place.

I’ve sort of been dreading doing this collection because early Nemesis is some of my favorite 2000AD stuff ever, and it’s hard to organize my thoughts without completely gushing over everything. This is the classic tale of a demonic and draconic alien fighting against the evil forces of humanity in a far future highway system. The story is fun, the art is amazing, Nemesis is the greatest! This episode covers the first part of either the Nemesis Complete Collection volume one or the full color Deviant Edition.
